Meet Calvin
Calvin knows what it’s like to live and grow up in the district
Calvin attended our local schools, Abbott Loop Elementary, Hanshew Middle School, and Service High School, and earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Alaska Anchorage. After completing his education, Calvin began his professional career as the Executive Director of Frontier Tutoring and joined the boards of the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce and the Abbott Loop Community Council. During this time, Calvin met his wife Heather, and soon after they purchased his childhood home where they are now raising their two daughters, Eleanor and Emmeline.
As the son of a nurse and a firefighter, Calvin learned to value and prioritize community. Whether he’s picking up trash on a walk around the district or organizing a neighborhood food drive during a time of need, Calvin works to improve the community around him and set a good example for his daughters.
A new generation of leadership
Calvin's approach to governance is simple: put local needs before party politics. Since his election in 2020, he has consistently championed practical solutions, focusing on reliable education funding, stronger public safety, critical infrastructure investments, and a sustainable long-term fiscal plan. His results-driven leadership earned the trust of his colleagues, leading to his election as House Minority Leader in 2022 and Co-chair of the House Finance Committee in 2024. Calvin has authored and passed six bills while making significant contibutions to many others. He is deeply committed to the community where he was raised, and considers it a profound honor to serve in the Alaska State House.

Calvin’s values
Integrity
We need to do what’s right for Alaska. For the past 40 years, oil revenues have taken us on an unstable ride. When revenues go up, we overspend, and when revenues go down, we feel the pain. It’s time we take a new look at this approach and work together to find a better way forward, one that is sustainable and responsible, meets our obligations to care for our elders, educate our young, and adequately fund public safety.
Respect
The views of all Alaskans matter, and we have to ensure everyone’s voices are heard. I’ll continue to work across the aisle to represent you and your family. After all, these issues aren’t about politics, they’re about people. That’s reason enough to work together and do what’s right. There’s no challenge too great for Alaskans who work together.
Community
The future of Alaska lies in our people and in our lands. They’re our greatest resources and the key to our tomorrow. That’s why we need to invest in everything from our public schools, trade schools, and our universities, to responsible resource development, renewable energies, and climate action. Investing in these resources will move Alaska forward. Let’s work together and build a brighter future for us all.
